The concept of divine finitude is especially relevant given the challenges confronting humanity in the contemporary world. How might Latter-day Saint theology respond meaningfully to the lived experience of chaos and hopelessness due to pervasive loss and suffering? How might its conception of God inform its approach to scriptural interpretation, ethics, and social activism? The conference will orient around four topics: scripture, revelation, the problem of evil, and liberation theology & social justice.

Kyle David Belanger is a first-year Master of Divinity candidate at Harvard Divinity School, where he focuses in post-Enlightenment intellectual history and religious thought, Jewish-Christian relations, and Holocaust studies. As a Latter-day Saint, Kyle seeks to bring his academic research in conversation with Mormon theology and praxis. The American Pragmatist tradition also informs his work, rooted in a deep belief in the irreducible dignity of human experience. He graduated with honors in Classics and History from Brigham Young University in 2023, and he originally hails from Anaheim, California.
